What is Polypropylene Fabric?

What is Polypropylene Fabric?

Now almost no one does not know what polypropylene is. After all, this thermoplastic polymer resin is one of the most popular types of plastics in the world, widely used in commercial, industrial, and even fashion fields. However, when it comes to nonwoven polypropylene fabrics and the increasingly serious environmental problems, we must discuss the environmental friendliness of non-woven fabrics, because they are the most popular environmentally friendly alternatives among these materials. So what is polypropylene? What is nonwoven polypropylene fabric?

What is Polypropylene?

As we have mentioned, polypropylene is a plastic that has the least environmental impact. If you remember our discussion about polyethylene and polypropylene, we said that the latter is becoming more and more popular in some industries due to its characteristics. As a quick reminder, let's take a look at some of the best properties of polypropylene:

Waterproof polypropylene fabric has incredible durability and abrasion resistance, making it a favorite in the manufacturing, industrial, and interior decoration industries. In addition to being able to withstand repeated and long-term use, polypropylene also has pollution resistance. It has the lowest thermal conductivity among all synthetic fibers or natural fibers and is an excellent insulator. Polypropylene fibers are resistant to sunlight and color fading during dyeing.

This fabric enhances the elasticity of the fabric to bacteria and other microorganisms, just like its synthetic fabrics. As you may already know, polypropylene has greater durability when it comes to facing moths, molds, rot, or mildew. Although polypropylene fabric is flammable, it is not easily ignitable. In the presence of specific additives, polypropylene becomes a flame retardant. It is easy to guess that polypropylene is also waterproof. Considering these characteristics and more, you can quickly understand why polypropylene is a widely used and cost-effective popular material. Some of the most common uses of this material include fashion and sports industries, military applications, packaging industry, healthcare applications, automotive, consumer goods, etc.

What is Nonwoven Polypropylene Fabric?

Non-woven fabric is a thin board or belly board structure formed by mechanically, thermally, or chemically bonding fibers or filaments (and perforated film) together. Similarly, nonwoven polypropylene fabric is a thermoplastic polymer that is similar to polypropylene but has the appearance of non-woven fabric. Polypropylene non-woven fabric is a lightweight fabric with excellent chemical and physical properties, wear resistance, moisture resistance, and abrasion resistance. Therefore, it is no wonder that you will find polypropylene fabrics as part of carpets, rugs, diaper tops, and many other items. Polypropylene non-woven fabric is an environmentally friendly material that can be widely used in many industries. For example, nonwoven polypropylene fabric is used in healthcare: disposable medical supplies, protective clothing, diapers, sanitary napkins, personal hygiene care products, etc.
