Polylactic acid (PLA) is a new type of biodegradable material, mainly made from renewable plant resources (such as corn) as raw materials for starch production. It has good biodegradability and biocompatibility. Packaging, fiber, and medical use are its three major hot application directions. As a thermoplastic fiber-grade resin, fiber-grade PLA is in the form of particles, and is extruded into mechanically stretched short fibers using conventional fiber spinning and stretching equipment.
